• Date of Establishment: The plant was founded on October 1, 1965.
• Strategic Importance: The plant’s strategic importance was defined as the production of power semiconductor devices and power converters.
• In September 1966, the first unit, VAK 25000/450, was assembled and sent for testing.
• By August 1971, Zaporizhzhia became the leading producer in the field of electrical engineering in the Soviet Union, and the «Plant «Preobrazovatel» became an industry leader.

Public Joint Stock Company «Plant «Preobrazovatel» has been active for over 50 years, creating converter technology for strategically important sectors of the country’s economy, including metallurgy, energy, machinery, oil and gas, mining, railway and urban electric transport, housing, and utilities. During this time, they have developed, manufactured, implemented, and successfully operated:

• Rectifiers for currents up to 100 kA and voltages up to 1000 V in container and cabinet designs. These are used to power electrolytic installations in metallurgy and chemical industries (for aluminum, copper, zinc, chlorine production, etc.) and for powering electric graphitization furnaces in metallurgy.
• Rectifiers for supplying direct current to arc electric furnaces for melting various grades of steel and alloys, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals.
• Reversible three-phase thyristor converters operating at ultra-low reverse frequency (instead of a direct current source) for processing waste after crushing MnS alloys. These significantly reduce the costs of reconstructing electric furnaces.
• Series of complete drives for both direct and alternating current electric drives.
• Thyristor exciters VTE and VTP for supplying the excitation winding of synchronous motors with a capacity of up to 12,500 kW with feeding transformers.
• Thyristor devices KTU for electric drives of cranes, grab bucket unloaders, and other material handling mechanisms.
• Reactive power compensators of the TKRM and AUKRM series.
• Series of variable voltage converters for quasi-frequency and phase smooth (soft) starting of synchronous and asynchronous motors with voltages of 6-10 kV for motor powers of 600-8000 kW.
• High-voltage frequency converters of 6-10 kV for synchronous and asynchronous electric motors with a capacity of up to 4000 kW.
• Series of rectifiers for various purposes.
• Rectifiers for galvanic processes of the “ION” series.

Public Joint Stock Company «Plant «Preobrazovatel» is the only manufacturer of power semiconductor devices in Ukraine: diodes, thyristors, modules, etc., with currents ranging from 10 to 4000 A and voltages up to 4000 V. These devices successfully compete with global analogs in terms of quality characteristics. The enterprise constantly expands the range of its products.

Modern production allows reducing energy costs for consumers by up to 50%. Equipment equipped with standardized microprocessor control methods significantly reduces operational expenses.
